Great Pop Rock With Theory of Flight

Bruce Von Stiers

Theory of Flight is a pop rock band whose roots are in Las Vegas. They have a new album out that is sure to

propel them to the top of the charts.  The album is Within Reach and has thirteen songs that have definite radio appeal. It is being released on Blue Beet Records.  The album was produced by band member Vince Casas. It was mixed by industry veteran Mark Needam who’s worked with greats like Fleetwood Mac and My Chemical Romance.

The band has six members. They are Beau Hodges, Vince Casas, Joey McMahon, Tyler Williams,

Stephen Goodrum and John Colombo. John is on keys and does some vocals. Stephen is on guitar and

vocals. Tyler is the drummer and also does some vocals. Joey is the band’s bass player. Vince is on lead

guitar and provides vocals. And Beau is the lead vocalist.

Additional personnel on the album were Stephen Chou, Kacy Burleson, Fernando Valenzuela, Kristen

Markell, Mark Needam, Alyssa Shaver and Mike Lozo. Stephen is on keys and programming, while Kacy

plays viola. Then there is Fernando on violin and Mark on tambourine. Alyssa and Mike are responsible for the

clapping sounds on the album and Kristen does the female vocals you will hear.

Head bopping power pop music backs good vocals on the first song. The song is called Sinister.

Not The Only is the second song. It starts out fast then slows down a bit to become a moderate paced tune.

Goodbye Tonight is a pretty decent love ballad.

Burn On is mild but kind of an aching pop rock ballad.

Things pick back up with the song Worthless Symphonies. The music of the song sort of reminded me of a

short lived faith based band called Offering that I had a chance to see in concert a few years back.

Spinning is a mild love ballad with great orchestral sounding music.

The band keeps mixing things around on the album. After the mildness of Spinning, they follow up with a

moderate pop anthem called Set The Night On Fire. There is some pretty decent guitar in the song.

Speaking of decent guitar, there is some killer rock slanted guitar in the song Can’t You See.

Throwing things back into the pop mode,This Night’s For You has a head bopping beat.

There might have been a strong U2 influence in the slow and gentle tune One Last Call.

Like You Do has an ‘80’s hair band rocker feel to it.

Next To You starts out like a U2 song. Then it moves into a slow and endearing ballad.

The album ends with an extended version of the song.

Power pop with infused rock is how I might describe the music of Theory of Flight. The vocals are fluid, full of

emotion and easy to listen to. The backing music moves between rock and pop effortlessly, melding together

for a great sound.

Within Reach is a really good album. If you want to hear the next great pop rock band, grab a copy of the

album.

CHECK OUT ONE HERO’S STORY BELOW….

The Best of The Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Best of The Best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well i first met you when me and my wife were on leave from iraq in march of this year.  we went to vegas to get married and we had decided to go to the mall there to do some shopping when we went into the boot store where you were working.  conversation was started and you found out we were in the miltiary and we found out you were a musician.  i told you that i was a musician as well so we got to talking, exchanged emails and then i found you on facebook where you had your band info up.  when a post was published about your cd release party and your new single “set the night on fire” video being on you tube i clicked on it to check it out.  after it was downloaded and i listened to it i couldnt get it out of my head so i decided to record it on a portable digital recorder so i could put it on a cd to burn later.

since ive been out here ive been assigned as a airborne combat medic on a transition team.  basically that means we go around and train and support the local iraqi forces so they can fight on their own and we dont have to do it for them, mostly it means we work hand in hand with them on a regular basisi.  one day me and my team were going out on another mission and normally when we roll out we’ll play some music to pass the time by, its better then driving around in silence waiting to get blown up or shot at.  most of the time we play whatever we can get our hands on as long as it keeps us entertained.  this particular day i didnt feel like listening to the heavy stuff we normally listen to so i suggested to play a new song that i heard, your song.  initially i only played it for my truck and once everyone liked it they said i should play it on our internal communications so everyone could hear it.  once i did i wound up having to loop the track 3 or 4 times cause they wanted to hear it over and over and over again.  it sort of became our feel good song of that mission and people would start singing it to themselves out of the blue at random times.  i even showed them the music video for it and upon seeing it one of my buddies wanted to know who the hot blonde was that you were dancing with.  when i told him that was your wife he got all depressed cause he realized he had no chance.

needless to say your music put a smile on our faces and made us laugh, made us forget for a few minutes that the roads we were driving down were not the kind of roads that could kill us.  granted things out here are not as bad as they used to be.  when i was here a couple of years ago things were a hell of a lot worse and a lot more people were getting torn up and getting killed.  i myself have been shot at and blown up more times then id like to admit, and ive lost more friends then id like to admit.  but thats why things like music are so important out here.  for a few minutes we felt like we could have been back in the states listening to that song on the radio with the volume turned all the way up, windows rolled down with the wind in our face and not worrying about anything.  yes our jobs are dangerous and yes there are times when home seems like its a million miles away, more importantly theres not a time that goes by when we go out on mission that we dont realize this could be the last one if something were to happen.  but sometimes all it takes is something very simple, like a song, to remind you that home is a lot closer then you think.  your song is a great one, your band has a great sound and i look foward to hearing the rest of your material on your cd.  in closing i just want to say thank you for making great music and remember that there are lots of men and women in uniform that are over seas doing various jobs in the name of our country…they need music too.  i am a musician myself and i know how powerful a song can be and out here that power becomes even greater because music is sometimes the only thing we have that will let us feel like ourselves or give us that few moments of peace before things become hectic again.

very respectfully,

p.s.- enclosed is a picture of me and my team, we’ve been through a lot this year and i couldnt have asked to work with better people or have better friends then the ones in that photo.  id gladly trade my life for any of them.

I don’t know what to do with my hands……… Did the red carpet make you feel Distinguished..? UMM yes, yes it did…..

Okay check it- Theory of Flight is an upcoming band based out of Las Vegas and their music is definately something worth listening too. We would just like to go on the record for saying YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!
As native locals it is our duty, we feel, to report to the world the hot sizzlin’ creations out of the city thus, Theory of Flight makes that list fo sho!
When my fellow Monster Energy gal Elissa told me that her husband (Tyler Williams) was in a band and they were awesome…I had no idea. Juli here- and I have been to show after show here in Vegas (I am a connoisseur of 2 things music and pizza) and this band is among my favs; Theory of Flight is a force to be reckoned with.
C o n f e s s i o n: I have been playing ‘Spinning’, #6 on the album, on repeat for approximately an hour now…I simply can’t get enough.
I can’t even compare them to other bands either….simply because they have their very own sound and to try and compare them to another band just wouldn’t work….they are original….you just have to hear them. It’d be like trying to tell someone what a kiwi tastes like if they’ve never had one. Their music paints a picture and takes you on a trip through your imagination; anyone with emotions will be able to relate.
The lead singer Beau Hodges’ voice meshes well with the tunes the band creates, they defiantly have great chemistry, that much is clear
Their passion is evident in the words and the music. I heart violins p.s.
This album ‘Within Reach’ is a beautifully crafted work of art. It’s dripping with talent and depth.
These guys are legit check ‘em out, you won’t be sorry.
